Over the last two days these amazing fellows have opened up about where we get our medicine (fire/drive) from. We visited Cochiti Rez and spent time learning about the Keres Children’s Learning Center. We heard about an Indigenous Montessori Institute that teachers can apply to be trained at for a year. We are now looking at our mission/vision for our schools, and a draft of ours looks like this, what do you think?

Homies Empowerment (HECHOS) exists to welcome home resilient youth impacted by colonialism. We do so with revolutionary love, Indigenous/Ethnic Studies (re)rooting, elder wisdom, wraparound holistic resources, land based and hood knowledge in an academically engaging way that can help channel the scholar, warrior, healer and hustler within, towards individual and community emancipation.
